Registration for the 2026 CAA International Carriage Symposium

January 29-February 1, 2026

It was 2008 when fourteen scholars and researchers gathered at Colonial Williamsburg, in Virginia, to hold the first Carriage Symposium. There were seven speakers from abroad and seven speakers from the United States, all recognized experts in the art and display of horse-drawn carriages and coaches.

That was then! No one had planned a second Symposium!

Here it is coming 2026 and we are looking forward to our Tenth International Symposium. The Symposium was originally conceived as a way to bring carriage scholars from around the world together to dialogue and share the results of their research with the wider carriage fraternity at large. To date, close to a hundred of them have now come together, every two years or so to share their research with one another, and with us.

Registration is $425/PP (Before December 28) for the whole symposium package, or $225/PP (Before December 28) for a single day Friday or Saturday. Prices will increase starting December 29, 2025.

The CAA has reserved a block of rooms at the Hilton Washington Dulles Airport, which is the site of all symposium

activities. Prices for the CAA group: $129/night (plus taxes).

Conveniently located three miles from the Dulles International Airport (IAD), the hotel features a complimentary airport shuttle and is 30 drive minutes to Washington DC. Silver Metro Line Train Service is also available from Dulles Airport to Washington DC.
