Royal Mews, The
Everyone is familiar with the image of The Queen travelling in an open-topped carriage on State occasions, or arriving at an engagement in a State Rolls Royce; but few are aware of the work involved or the people who are responsible for organising this tmportant part of The Queen's itinerarier. The Royal Mews at Buckingham Palace, which is open to visitors throught the year, is where the State Carriages are housed, horses are stabled, and State Rolls Royces are garaged. As part of The Queen's Household, the staff at the Royal Mews are responsible for providing transport for The Queen by road; and this film goes behind the scenes to show the Mews at work. Whether it is the daily routine of grooming and training the thirty carriage horses, or the highly skilled task of keeping the finest cars and carriages in the world in first class condition, the staff at the Royal Mews perform their tasks with enthusiasm and dedication.
