Registration for the 2024 CAA International Carriage Symposium

It was January 2008 when fourteen scholars and researchers gathered at Colonial Williamsburg, in Virginia, to hold the first Carriage Symposium. There were seven speakers from abroad and seven speakers from the United States, all recognized experts in the art and display of horse-drawn carriages and coaches.

That was then! No one had planned a second Symposium!

Here it is coming 2024 and we are looking forward to our Ninth International Symposium. The Symposium was originally conceived as a way to bring carriage scholars from around the world together to dialogue and share the results of their research with the wider carriage fraternity at large. To date, close to a hundred of them have now come together, every two years or so to share their research with one another, and with us.

The CAA has reserved a block of rooms at the Hilton Washington Dulles Airport, which is the site of all symposium

activities. Prices for the CAA group: $115/night (plus taxes).

and is 30 drive minutes to Washington DC. New Silver Metro Line Train Service is also available for 2024 from Dulles Airport to Washington DC.
